Catalina Islands
Considered some of best diving in Costa Rica, the nutrient-rich waters surrounding the Catalina Islands provide a habitat for a huge variety of marine life. White-tip reef sharks and nurse sharks, turtles, manta rays, eagle rays, octopus, grouper, snapper, and angel-fish, to name but a few. Bottom composition is mainly rocky (providing plenty of places to find moray eels, nudibranchs, seastars and small colourful fish), with patches of coral growth.
There are a variety of dive sites, with depths ranging from approximately 40ft to 100ft.
Visibility varies depending on the season and levels of plankton and other nutrients, but typically ranges from 20ft to 100ft, averaging approximately 45 ft.
